Treat managed agent platforms (for example, AgentCore) as workflow runtimes that attach an LLM, not as a drop-in magic AI layer. Often the hard work lives in the runtime plumbing you get from the platform: credential scoping, retries and backoff, human approvals, observability, and auditable replay. When you evaluate a platform, focus on its runtime contracts first: can you block or approve tool calls, scope credentials per agent, replay traces for audits, and surface failures for alerts? Build against those boundaries, then add the model.
